Jerimoth Hill,
Rhode Island
Jerimoth Hill is the highest natural point in the American state of Rhode Island, and lies at a “height“ of 812 feet above sea level, or 247 meters. That lofty figure puts it at the 5th lowest out of the 51 US highpoints, including Washington DC, or the 46th highest, neither of which have much of a ring to them. It resides off of Route 101, barely into Rhode Island from Connecticut. There is a small, unpaved parking lot to accommodate interested parties and a walk of perhaps 500 feet to the high point, which is marked by a bench and small clearing. If the ground is not too soft or muddy, it is wheelchair accessible, one of few state highpoints that is.
This is perhaps the easiest US highpoint to visit. There is no cost, and it takes very little time if you discount the time and cost to travel to Rhode Island, and if you do take the time to come here, you can treat yourself to a lobster roll in Providence after, as a reward for all your hard work.
